Description

Meet Sadie. She's a German Short Haired Pointer Lab mix. She is a extremely sweet dog, everyones friend. And if you have a treat, she's BFF.

Sadie has canine cancer. She has a lump on her liver. She's slowed down quite a bit, doesn't roam all over the park while sniffing every tiny inch of it, and she doesn't play as long as she used to. There is no telling how long she has left.

Sadie is my cousin's dog. He commissioned me this piece to give to his wife as a gift so that even when Sadie passes, there will always be a reminder of her and how much everyone loves her.

Canine cancer affects one in every three dogs, and half of those dogs will die of the disease. If you want to learn more about it or help fund research, check out this link.

This is my first critique, so bare with me! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/l/l…" width="19" height="19" alt=":la:" title="La la la la"/>

When i first set my eyes on this painting, it seemed okay and didn't grab my attention at the first sight (due to low level of contrast in it...) But, spending more time looking at this, I see that how beautifully it has been done, the technique used in the depiction of fur, and the white hair is very impressive..
Further more, giving some attention to its mouth, I see the way the tongue is shaded, and the way it curls where it touches the teeth, thus it is very much detailed, and it also tells me that how experienced the artist is in the dynamics of this.

In the end, I would say that this is a very impressive piece, though the viewer is required to spend some time to really appreciate it. So, do I have any suggestions? Well, nothing major, but I would suggest that you adjust the contrast in it, so that it will feel more vibrant. Furthermore, the eyes do have somewhat of a unreal feel to them, I guess that adding highlights to the reflection would make them feel more realistic.

P.S. I hope this dog doesn't die! Seems so innocent and cute! <img class="avatar" src="a.deviantart.net/avatars/a/d/a…" alt=":iconadorableplz:" title="adorableplz"/>
